The package for medium-sized cities – meeting of local government officials from Warmia and Mazury

The Mayor of Elk Tomasz Andrukiewicz September 12 took part in the meeting of representatives of more than a dozen cities of warmińsko-Mazurskie, which is Government support as part of the package for medium-sized cities ".

During a meeting in the Town Hall letter co-signed births Kętrzyn addressed to the Minister of development and Marshal of Warmia and Mazury with proposals for the modification of the package.

The Government's package is a proposal to support 255 cities, prepared by the Ministry of development. Special assistance can count 122 urban centres.

In this group is the 12 towns of Warmia and Mazury: Elk, Bartoszyce, Braniewo, Działdowo, Elblag, Giżycko, Kętrzyn, Lidzbark Warmiński, Mrągowo, Olecko, write and Szczytno.

The Government offer includes m.in. :

·       dedicated calls for proposals of the national operational programmes within the framework of the EU funds for the years 2014-2020

·       The General Investment Fund

·       the public-private partnership initiatives, the strengthening of cooperation and exchange of experience between local authorities (Cities Initiative Partnership), the energy consultancy or the preparation of intelligent solutions for cities (Smart Cities)

The city of Warmia and Mazury, after analysis of the offer of the Ministry of development, has prepared proposals for amendments in the package. In the opinion of the local government officials offered support to a small extent corresponds to the real problems and needs of medium-sized towns of Warmia and Mazury.

In letters addressed to the Deputy Prime Minister Matthew to put Pat Dodson and Marshal Gustav Brand Brzezina indicated directory the most important development needs, the implementation of which essentially should be addressed within the framework of the support package. Also proposes changes to the various national programmes (including EU funds and funds from the State budget) and regional operational programme Of Warmia and Mazury 2014-2020.

They also approach to new EU spending period after 2020, with respect to the medium-sized cities.

The Mayor of Elk Tomasz Andrukiewicz coordinating cooperation of local governments, announced plans to take further steps to make changes in the package, and targeting it on meeting the needs and developing the potentials of cities of Warmia and Mazur.
