Children's Day was established in 1954 by the United Nations for the promotion of ideals and goals concerning the rights of the child contained in the Charter of the United Nations.

On the initiative of the President of Ełk, children and young people up to 18 years of age they will be able to live on Children's Day free of charge use public transport buses in the city.
