World Blood Donation Day

On June 14, we celebrate World Blood Donor Day established by the World Blood Donor
Organization of Health. The President of Ełk thanks everyone who shares their
blood with others, and thanks to this they can save someone's life.
World Blood Donor Day
was established by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is celebrated on
memorial of karl Landsteiner's birthday on June 14, 1868 In 1901 Landsteiner
he discovered blood types, for which he received the Nobel Prize in 1930.
Thank you all those who selflessly share their blood, a priceless gift that can save someone life. This is a very noble gesture that can be reversed at any time someone's fate. I would like to thank all the people, the people of Ełk, who gave their blood. Thank you for your exemplary attitude – mayor of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz
June 11 in our city there was a blood collection action. The mobile point stood in front of the "Brama Mazur" Gallery.
17 people donated blood, 7,650 liters of blood were obtained.
