The Municipal Guard in Ełk was established on March 1, 1992, i.e. 30 years ago. Today in the Ełk town hall during the ceremony the president of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz thanked everyone for their commitment and cooperation in service to the service of residents of the city, and also handed out three promotions to higher ranks. He also admitted rewards for responsible attitude, conscientious performance of official duties, commitment and additional initiatives. On the other hand, city guards who are on duty 30 years received special commemorative gutters. In total, such a distinction is entitled to six people.

One of the main tasks Municipal Guards are to be closer to the residents, to help and intervening where needed. Every day you take care of safety, order and you react to all kinds of threats. Are also such tasks that you carry out in cooperation with the Ełk police and guards Departments. Thank you for your commitment, conscientious performance of duties and additional initiatives. The implementation of the tasks of the Municipal Guards is associated m.in with the permanent cooperation with the city government, but also with other uniformed services, in including the District Police Headquarters in Ełk and the State District Fire Service. Therefore, on the occasion of this year's 30th anniversary of the Municipal Guards and joint completed tasks and initiatives, SM Commander Krzysztof Skiba thanked and handed the gutters to the president of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz and police and fire chiefs.

Currently, 23 guards are on duty in Ełk urban, among which 9 women work. The Commander of the Municipal Guard is Krzysztof Skiba, who has been serving in the Municipal Guard continuously since 1992 Year.
