From 1946, every year on April 16, Minesweeper Day is celebrated, as commemoration of the anniversary of the Polish Army soldiers forcing the line Oder and Lusatian Neisse. The sappers made a huge contribution to the recovery Polish lands.

Place Sapper Memorial in Ełk is a monument "Glory to the Sappers killed in time of demining of the Masurian Land" located at ul. Kosciuszko. In Friday, April 14 in Ełk took place the solemn celebration of the 77. anniversary of the Minesweeper Day organized by the Association of Sappers Polish Circle No. 30 and 44th Light Infantry Battalion, whose The aim is to commemorate the distinguished sappers.
