This year marks the 50th birthday of the Post-Secondary School "Medic". During the celebration of the jubilee, today (17 May), by virtue of the Resolution of the Regional Assembly of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Olsztyn, the school adopted the name: Nicolaus Copernicus Post-Secondary School in Ełk.

The jubilee was attended by: m.in.: Marshal of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship Gustaw Marek Brzezin, Member of the Polish Parliament Anna Wojciechowska, Starosta Ełk Marek Chojnowski, President of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz,bishop Ełk Jerzy Mazur, as well as directors of schools and institutions from Ełk and Voivodeship as well as school graduates and invited guests. Initially The official part was unveiled and the plaque commemorating the jubilee was unveiled and blessed 50th anniversary and patron of the school. Then, after presenting a short story "Medic" was time for wishes. President Elk joined the congratulations and thanked management, employees and listeners for their involvement in various types of preventive projects and actions promoting a healthy lifestyle.

- I would like to wish that the school would continue to develop perfectly, that it would be full of enthusiasm. I am respectful that you remember retired teachers, of which there are so many today, and who made the history of this school. This It shows not only gratitude, but that this continuity is preserved. I wish you further successes. All the best – added the mayor of the city.

Why Nicolaus Copernicus became the patron of the school

- When choosing the name of the school, we were guided by the conviction that it should be a person of light, worthy of imitation, but also closely related to the history of our region. Nicholas Copernicus was a man of many professions – an astronomer, but also doctor, mathematician, economist, creator of the theory known to all heliocentric construction of the world. The workshop of his achievements closely correlates with the specificity of 50 years of education at the Post-Secondary School in Ełk. Naming The facility will make it recognizable in the environment and at the same time will be a tribute submitted by the community of our school to an outstanding scholar – we read on the "Medyka" website.

School Post-secondary "Medyk" has existed since 1973 (until 2005 Medical vocational study). Facility prepares students for professions such as: pharmaceutical technician, hygienist dental, cosmetic service technician, podologist, massage technician, medical caregiver, childminder, medical sterilization technician, Environmental caregiver and caregiver of an elderly person. So far, Elk "Medyk" educated over 4000 graduates.
