Sterilization and castration of owner animals was adopted by Resolution No. LXI.668.2024 of the City Council Ełk of 27 March 2024 on the "Animal Care Program homeless and prevention of animal homelessness in the Municipality of Ełk in 2024". It is an action that significantly prevents homelessness animals by preventing their uncontrolled reproduction.

Castration and sterilization not only prevents their reproduction, but also has an impact on the their health and reduces the risk of life-threatening diseases. Thanks After the procedure, animals can be healthier and live longer. This action will also raise the awareness of the inhabitants of Ełk in the field of responsible and proper care of animals and their humane use of Treatment

What you need to do to take advantage of the subsidy for the procedure co-financed from the city budget?

1. A condition for participation in the campaign is:

1) having a registered address by the owner of the animal in the City of Ełk;

2) possession by the animal electronic ID/chip;

3) submission by the the owner of the animal in the Office Service Office (room 02) of the City Hall Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego 4 in Ełk of a completed application for co-financing of sterilization or castration of owner animals (the application can be downloaded here).

2. After verifying the application, applicant will be informed of the outcome and will be informed of the in the case of a positive assessment, the patient will be invited to receive a written referral for a veterinary procedure in the indicated clinic.

3. In 2024, the owner animals will be able to obtain funding for  veterinary treatments: castration or neutering of up to 2 cats (regardless of gender) and castration and neutering of up to 2 dogs (regardless of gender) gender).

4. Applications will be accepted order until the funds allocated to this Directive are exhausted goal in the budget.

6. The municipality will co-finance the cost of animal treatment:

Other amounts of treatments Castration and sterilization are carried out by the owner of the animals in the veterinarian's office.

There is a possibility that  the animal will not undergo veterinary treatment due to the a negative decision of a veterinarian, e.g. when there are any medical contraindications, then the animal will be excluded from the action (doctor veterinarian will inform the owner about this fact by phone or in writing and the office),

In the event of exclusion A referral for veterinary treatment loses its validity.
