The exhibition "Treasure from Main Street 2.0" is a presentation of the largest archaeological find in the history of Ełk in its full splendor. Nearly 700 coins from the 17th century have undergone professional cleaning, maintenance and research. In cooperation with the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology Polish Academy of Sciences, detailed analyses were carried out, the the effects can be seen at the exhibition and on the cards published by the Museum of the monograph authored by Dr. Grzegorz Śnieżko. The second edition of the exhibition with 2021 will show coins in their proper form, allow you to get closer to the all the details hidden under the layers of corrosion and contamination. Will It is also an excellent introduction to the celebrations of the 600th anniversary next year Elk.

The partners of the exhibition are the Polish Numismatic Society Suwałki Branch Branch in Ełk and the Historical and Exploration Association "Yotvingians". Media patronage: popular science magazine "Archeologia Żywa".

The opening of the exhibition will take place on December 18, 2024 (Wednesday) at 6.00 p.m. the seat of the Historical Museum in Ełk at 1 Wąski Tor Street.

The program of the vernissage includes:

• presentation of the monograph carried out as part of the project "The treasure of coins from the seventeenth century from Ełk – analysis of research results and publication of the book" – Dr. Grzegorz Śnieżko (archaeologist and numismatist, assistant professor at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences)
• presentation website implemented as part of the project "Digital Treasure of Ełk: digitization and sharing of the collection of coins from the 17th century found on the the city of Ełk" – Sebastian Litwin (chief inventor at the Museum Historical Complex in Ełk)

During the vernissage, each participant of the event will receive a free copy of the monograph "Treasure of coins from the seventeenth century from Ełk".

The exhibition can be visited from December 19, 2024 to March 30 2025 from Tuesday to Sunday from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. in the exhibition halls of the MHE, ul. Narrow track 1. Admission
