Winter feeding of waterfowl – an appeal for responsible actions

22 January 2026, Author: Mateusz Gałęski

Due to the persistently low temperatures and difficult access to natural food, activities related to winter feeding of waterfowl have been initiated. A total of 100 kg of waterfowl food was purchased. The action is aimed at supporting ducks, swans and other species of waterfowl during the period when access to natural food is significantly limited.

Feeding is carried out in designated places, under the supervision of appropriate services and in accordance with the applicable rules of nature protection. We emphasize that birds should be fed only with appropriate food, such as cereal grains, oatmeal or specialized food for waterfowl. It is unacceptable to serve bread, which can cause serious health problems in birds and pollute water bodies.

At the same time, we appeal to residents to be cautious and not to undertake independent, uncontrolled feeding activities.

Winter feeding of waterfowl is an important element of pro-ecological activities, which – carried out in a responsible manner – makes a real contribution to the protection of local fauna.
