Enrollment of new children in kindergartens is still ongoing until March 13 run by the city of Ełk. Children aged 3 to 6 participate in the recruitment process residing in the area of the city of Ełk, which in the school year 2025/2026 do not attended public kindergartens. If, after the recruitment procedure has been carried out, public kindergarten will continue to have vacancies, the will be followed.

There are 2 ways to apply for admission of a child to Kindergartens:

- filling in the application electronically via the website online

- submitting a hand-filled paper application to the Electronic

recruitment system

On the days when recruitment is conducted, there is a website dedicated to electronic recruitment. A guide containing the offer is also available on the website kindergartens located in the city of Ełk.

By using the electronic recruitment process, parents have support in form of the PARENT'S GUIDE - developed by the Department of Education - RECRUITMENT 2026/2027 STEP BY STEP.

Note: Parent application completed via website is saved in the system. Parent with paper version application together with the required documents, it is necessary to go in person to the of the institution of first choice and confirm the application by 13 March 2026 at the latest.

Recruitment criteria

The order of admission of a child to kindergarten is NOT determined by the order only the criteria of the first and second stages of recruitment.

The recruitment procedure is conducted by the recruitment committee appointed by the headmaster of the kindergarten.

At the first stage of the recruitment procedure, they are taken into account the following statutory criteria are included:

1. the large number of children of the candidate's family;

2. the candidate's disability;

3. disability of one of the candidate's parents;

4. disability of both parents of the candidate;

5. disability of the candidate's siblings;

6. raising the candidate alone in the family;

7. placing the candidate in foster care.

Public preschool facilities, can get every child, and it does not matter where he lives, in which region of the city. There is no priority for admission of a child to a kindergarten in a district where where he lives. Therefore, the region is not one of the criteria scored by preschool institutions when evaluating applications in the recruitment of preschoolers.

Exception: Due to the fact that a child at the age of 6 years is obliged to undergo a one-year pre-school preparation in a kindergarten, pre-school in primary school (the so-called pre-school) or another form of education kindergarten, then the child's journey from home to kindergarten cannot be exceed – 3 km.
