Eight decades of tradition, memory and heart for children of special care. The Benedictine Missionary Sisters in Ełk are celebrating a beautiful jubilee this year. Representatives of the local government of the City of Ełk went to the "Rainbow House" with thanks and gifts.

The Benedictine Missionary Sisters came to Ełk in 1946. They lived in a house destroyed by the war at 2 Kilińskiego Street, where the German Elizabethan Sisters had previously lived. Since then, the nuns have been creating and modernizing the place where they carry out their life mission. They help the most needy children who require special care and comprehensive care.

In 2026, the "Rainbow House" Social Welfare Home for Children, under the leadership of Sr. Benedetta Anna Górska, celebrates its 80th birthday. Currently, there are 12 sisters serving in the "Rainbow House". They have a lot of tasks, because in addition to running the house, they also take care of the primary school and the preparation for work and the m.in Rainbow Foundation.

On Friday, May 29, the "Rainbow House" was visited by the Mayor of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz, the Chairman of the City Council Michał Tyszkiewicz and the Head of the Department of Social Policy of the Ełk City Hall Katarzyna Podlecka.

- You are part of the history of this city, your service to those in need cannot be valued and evaluated. I hope that you will continue to work until the end of the world, or even longer. And from our side, I assure you of help and support in every matter. You are doing wonderful things, for which a simple word "thank you" is definitely not enough - said the Mayor of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz during the meeting.

Congratulations on a beautiful jubilee and we wish you as much strength as possible in serving those in need!
