A wave of torrential downpours and storms passed through Ełk and neighboring towns. As a result of the natural disaster, local flooding occurred on several streets of our city. In addition, the roof of one of the multi-family buildings in the center was torn off, and trees were fallen in various parts of the city.

From the first minutes, all municipal services and the Fire Brigade took immediate action.

The Fire Brigade and employees of the Water and Sewerage Company cleared the network and pumped out water on an ongoing basis. The most serious interventions concerned Wawelska Street and Targowa Street.

High water levels also occurred under the viaduct along Dąbrowskiego Street. Immediately after the rainfall subsided, the storm sewer received all the water.

Such intense and rapid rainfall means that at one point even modern drainage systems are not able to immediately accept such a huge amount of water.

On Wojska Polskiego Street, a strong wind tore off the roof of a multi-family building. The building is in the process of being secured by the services. Elements of the detached roof are cleaned and secured.

On the promenade, the wind knocked down a dozen or so trees. They have already been secured, and tomorrow the services will clean up the area. A large tree at Kilińskiego Street was also felled.

The Fire Brigade alone received over 120 reports and more are still coming in - this shows how large a scale of the weather phenomenon we have been dealing with. Firefighters from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Ełk and surrounding OSP units, employees of the Water and Sewerage Company in Ełk, officers of the Municipal Guard in Ełk and the District Police Headquarters in Ełk take part in the activities. Thank you for your work.

The services are constantly working to remove the effects of the element.
