In connection with the petition of the inhabitants of the Ełk district and the group councillors concerning the restoration of night duty in pharmacies, on the initiative of the President of the of the City of Ełk on Friday (August 21, 2026) a meeting was held on the organization of night availability of pharmacies in the city.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Ełk pharmacies, Ełk Town Hall and the District Office in Ełk, as well as city councillors and county.

The talks concerned the possibility of taking action organisational measures aimed at ensuring that residents have access to medicines in during the night hours.

Two solutions were analyzed:

• launch of a 24-hour pharmacy
• or the introduction of permanent, night pharmacies.

The meeting was an opportunity to present positions and discuss possible solutions that, on the one hand, will provide residents with access to pharmaceutical services at night, and on the other hand, they will be can be organized and implemented by local pharmacies.

The participants declared further cooperation and continuation of the talks in order to develop a solution that responds to the needs of residents Ełk.
