It has been 87 years since the outbreak of World War II. The largest armed conflict in the history of the modern world broke out on September 1, 1939 and lasted six years. According to various estimates, between 50 and 78 million people lost their lives during the war.

Yesterday (1 September) at noon in Ełk, the sound of alarm sirens sounded - it was a training of the alarm system, but above all a symbol aimed at commemorating the 87th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.

After the evening mass
in the Cathedral of St. Adalbert in Ełk, there was a march of the Municipal Wind Orchestra, banner posts and delegations to the monument to the Fallen for Free and Independent Poland in the Solidarity Park. There were celebrations with the participation of the honorary company of the 1. Rocket Brigade, 1. Rocket Squadron from Orzysz.

"The most beautiful monument we can erect to all those who fell is caring for Poland. A safe, free, solidary Poland..." -
