X FORUM OF OPEN REGIONALISM

04 September 2026, Author: Marcin Dębiński

The Open Regionalism Forum is intended by the creators to be a regional forum for nationwide debate, a series of annual meetings that would be a catalyst for new ideas and cultural activities

On Thursday, 3 September, the Mayor of Ełk, Tomasz Andrukiewicz, opened the X FORUM OF OPEN REGIONALISM. This year's edition is held under the slogan: "Nation and regions – competing stories?". It will be devoted to history, memory and regional identity.

The participants of the Forum will try to find answers to such questions as:

  • Can the story of Poland be one, if the historical experiences of Masuria, Warmia, Pomerania, Silesia, Podlasie or the Lublin region are so different from each other?
  • How does regional memory relate to national memory?
  • Do different experiences have to compete with each other, or can they help us better understand
each other?
