The guests of the President of Ełk were (20 June) Colonel Jaroslaw Kowalski, commander of the 4. The Wamińsko-Mazurskie Territorial Defence Brigade, as well as Major Paweł Supiński commander of the 44. Light Infantry Battalion WOT and Agnieszka Pasko, director of the Uniformed Education Center in Ełk and head of cooperation civil-military.

M.in, new tasks imposed on WOT by the Act were discussed. about the defense of the homeland, as well as about the battalion already forming in Ełk. Command over 44. Light Infantry Battalion of the Territorial Defense Forces from June 30 2022 will be taken over by Major Paweł Supiński, who has so far served in the army Special.

The headquarters of WOT in Ełk will be located at Kościuszki Street, while training and logistics facilities will be located at ul. Lower, i.e. in military facilities. Three companies will be stationed in the city battalion. There will be 140 soldiers in each service. Ceremonial WOT soldiers will take the oath in Ełk on July 23.

Since its commencement by the Ministry of National Defence work on the formulation of the Territorial Defense Forces, President of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz made efforts to create one of the branches (2017).
