From February 14, road works related to the construction of intelligent vehicles will begin Smart Pass pedestrian crossings and Smart Pass Bike paths on in the city of Ełk, in order to improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists on the in the city of Ełk.

The task is carried out as part of a research project conducted by EUROASFALT Sp. z o.o., which obtained funding from external funds for the installation of 8 smart pedestrian crossings and 8 intelligent bicycle paths in the city of Ełk.

Own contribution of the city of Ełk is the amount of approx. 60 thousand. zlotys, from which the technical documentation of the electrical industry and traffic organization projects.

Total cost The tasks amount to approx. PLN 1 million.

According to the above-mentioned project, a total of 8 new active Smart Pass crossings and 8 Smart Pass Bike paths are to be created in the city of Ełk in the following locations:

1) active Smart Pass:

- Armii Krajowej Street at Słowackiego Street,

- Armii Krajowej Street at Chopina Street,

- Kajki Street (near Biedronka),

- Kajki Street (at Asnyka Street),

- Piłsudskiego Street at Szafera Street,

- Mickiewicza Street at Konopnicka Street,

- Kilińskiego Street (near Bank PKO SA),

- Sikorskiego Street (at ZS 5 in Ełk).

2) Active Smart Pass Bike paths:

- Baranki Street (intersection with Spacerowa Street),

- Kolonia Street (intersection with Dobrzańskiego Street),

- Mickiewicza Street (intersection with 3 Maja Street),

- Norwida Street (intersection with E. Plater Street),

- roundabout (at ATU) Kilińskiego / Targowa street,

- Suwalska Street (intersection with Brzozowa Street),

- Suwalska Street (intersection with Śląska Street),

- Mickiewicza Street (intersection with Wawelska Street).

As part of the task, new marking will be made and installed active point light elements to warn of pedestrian approach, or cyclist to the crossing or bicycle crossing will also be mounted new road markings and when the conditions are right atmospheric renewed road markings.

Transitions and paths will be made successively by the end of the first quarter 2023
