November is a special time month in the prevention of cancer of the genitourinary system. This month is recognized around the world as the month of solidarity with men fighting prostate cancer and testicular cancer. We are talking about the "MOVEMBER" campaign launched in 1999 in Australia. The name "Movember" is a combination of two words: moustache and November.

The aim of the campaign is to changing the face of men's health, while the mustache, which by the creators was established with the action symbol are supposed to communicate this change. The campaign assumes raising public awareness of prostate cancer and other cancers and the removal of taboos associated with these diseases.

Incidence of cancer prostate is constantly increasing. In Poland, this cancer already accounts for about 20 per cent. all diagnosed malignancies. According to the data of the National Register of About 16,000 new cases of cancer are registered annually in Poland. Testicular cancer mainly affects men between the ages of 14 and 34, while testicular cancer prostate after the age of 45. The effectiveness of therapy depends largely on the quick diagnosis. Detection of prostate cancer at an early stage enables full Cure. That is why there is a strong emphasis on prevention and research Screening. There is no one-size-fits-all method for detecting this type of cancer. However, by undergoing regular examinations, it can be diagnosed early, and thus treatment is initiated.

Starting tomorrow (November 1st) in front of the building of the Ełk Town Hall, in solidarity with the men, will stand blue ribbon.
