A scholarship may be awarded to an athlete or a coach who:

1) practises discipline of significance for the Municipality the city of Ełk;

2) is a resident of the Municipality of Ełk.

Novelty in the Rules of Procedure

Disciplines important for the development of physical culture in the Municipality of the City of Ełk are: water sports, martial arts, athletics, football, football volleyball, basketball, powerlifting, cycling/MTB and sports people with disabilities.

Scholarships are available to:

1)      individual sports athletes, with or without holding a player's license, achieving sports results in an international or in a national sporting competition;

2)      players of team sports games participating in the Competitions:

a)      football – IV league and higher,

b)      volleyball and basketball – III league and Higher.

Change in the Rules of Procedure

Request for The scholarship is awarded by:

1) Age of majority the athlete to whom the request relates;

2) a parent or legal guardian of a minor player;

3) coach, to which the application relates.

Sports scholarships are usually awarded 2 times a year. calendar year.

Remark! Change of call dates

In Conclusion scholarships should be submitted to the Ełk City Hall by the new deadlines: by 3 p.m. December of a given calendar year (for the first half of the following year) and by 15 June (for the second half of a given year).

Other forms of support for athletes are prizes and Highlight.

The prize is In appreciation:

- for the player for the level of his performance and high sports results,

- for the coach for involvement or for high sporting performance of players or activities on the for the development of physical culture in Ełk.

Distinctions are awarded in the form of: statuettes, cups, diplomas and congratulatory letters in the category: "player", "coach"  for outstanding sporting achievements or long-term activity for the benefit of development of physical culture.

Applications for awards and distinctions can be submitted by all year round.

Request for The awarding of the prize/distinction is made by:

1) Age of majority the athlete to whom the application relates

2) a parent or legal guardian of an underage player,

3) coach, to which the application relates

In 2023, the Mayor of Ełk awarded 30 scholarships for special sporting achievements and 3 awards.
