Zofia Nasierowska Municipal Public Library in Ełk together with the Jurgis Kuncinas Public Library in Alytus implements currently the LTPL00108 project "Wisdom and development for cross-border communities". The main objective of the project is to facilitate the exchange of experience between public institutions – cross-border libraries in the cities of Alytus and Ełk. Libraries strive to share best practices in the field of implementation of actions related to digitalisation, the circular economy and the lifelong education.

The project has a multi-threaded dimension and includes, for example: joint camps for young people or meetings with seniors in the field of digital resources and skills necessary in today's changing world.

The funds obtained from the programme also provide for renovation of two rooms on the second floor (Multiteka department). The works are in progress, they began on October 30. The rooms will be refreshed (painting walls and ceilings) and old lighting will be replaced with modern in LED technology. The works will last until the end of November.

The programme will also purchase digital equipment to support learning lifelong learning, digital solutions and the active involvement of groups project into joint and local activities.

Value of the project of the Zofia Municipal Public Library Nasierowska Street in Ełk is EUR 72,355.04 / PLN 335,517.56. Own contribution is the amount of EUR 14,471.01 / PLN 67,103.52, and the co-financing - EUR 57,884.03 / 268 PLN 414.03.

The project "Wisdom and development for the community is co-financed by the European Union under the framework of the European Regional Development Fund, from the Interreg V-A Cooperation Programme Lithuania-Poland 2021-2027. The total value of the project is: EUR 191,723.58, European Union ERDF co-financing: 154,618.53 EUR. Value of the Zofia Nasierowska Municipal Public Library in Ełk is EUR 73,692.00, including EU co-financing under the ERDF EUR 58,953.60 (80%). Project implementation period: February 1, 2024 – May 31, 2025.
