When on January 31, 2025, the ambulance of the Municipal Hospital Pro-Medica was returning from a military hospital, the drivers were stopped by a woman who reported an unconscious person lying on the pavement. Without undue delay, the crew ambulance carried out an assessment of the injured person's condition – lack of breathing and pulse. Rescuers started cardiopulmonary resuscitation, in the meantime help from the Hospital Emergency Department of the 1. Military Clinical Hospital with Polyclinic SPZOZ in Lublin – Branch in Ełk. The victim managed to restore vital signs, after which he was transported to the hospital.

As it turned out later, one of the ambulance drivers and two rescuers who came from the ER are firefighters from the Ełk Unit Rescue and Firefighting Department, who are also on duty outside of duty hours in the State Fire Service in the emergency medical system.

The action was attended by, m.in Wojciech Bednarowicz, Krzysztof Sienkiewicz, Piotr Mróz and Maciej Nalbach.

Last Friday (March 7), rescuers accompanied by st. Brigadier Marek Markowski, District Commander of the State Fire Service in Ełk and Daniel Radzaj, Coordinator for Vehicle Fleet and Transport Pro Medica, visited Ełk City Hall.

Mayor of the City of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz, Deputy The Mayor of Ełk Mirosław Hołubowicz, the Chairman of the City Council Michał Tyszkiewicz, the Head of the Social Policy Department Katarzyna Podlecka and Bożena Szelągowska, the President of the Management Board of "Pro-Medica" in Ełk Sp. z o.o. presented gifts and expressions of appreciation.

Thanks to the immediate reaction of the woman who called help, and the professionalism of paramedics, managed to save lives Man. This shows how important it is to react quickly and cooperate in situations threats to health and life.
