It is a symbol of awareness and prevention - Pink October.
By symbolically placing a pink ribbon, Ełk joins the nationwide campaign for women's health. The ribbon is a symbol of pink October, which is breast cancer awareness month. The campaign aims to increase knowledge about prevention, early detection of breast cancer and other female cancers.
The pink ribbon is a reminder of the importance of regular check-ups and health care. Early detection of the disease significantly increases the chances of its effective treatment. October is the time when women are especially encouraged to undergo preventive examinations, such as breast ultrasound or mammography.
