Celebration of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Katyn Massacre and the Smolensk Catastrophe

The President of Ełk and the Historical Museum in Ełk invite you to participate in the solemn celebrations of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Katyn Massacre, and Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Smolensk Catastrophe. The celebrations in Ełk will take place on 13 April (Thursday).

April 10 marks the 13th anniversary of the disaster Smolensk, which took place in Smolensk, on Saturday, April 10, 2010. As a result of the catastrophe, 96 people died, among them: the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński with his wife Maria Kaczyńska.

April 13 is the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Crime Katyn, paying tribute to the Soviet victims on the 83rd anniversary of the Katyn massacre a crime that resulted in the execution of over 21,000 Poles. Diet By acclamation of the Republic of Poland, it adopted the holiday of 14 November 2007 Year.

As part of the city's celebrations of both anniversaries, on April 13 at 6 p.m. St. Adalbert's Cathedral in Ełk will be celebrated Holy Mass in the intention of victims of the Katyn massacre and the Smolensk catastrophe. After the Holy Mass, laying flowers at the Monument to the Victims of Katyn and Smolensk at the cathedral and handing over tribute to the victims.
