1. LOCATION

Ełk is a city of 60,000 inhabitants located in the picturesque Ełk Lake District in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Due to its attractive location in the north-eastern part of Poland, Ełk proudly bears the name of the capital of Masuria.

 The city stretches along the Ełk Lake (400 ha), while the Ełk River (113 km long) flows through the central part of the city.

At the southern border of the city there are three more lakes: Sunowo, Selment Mały and Szyba, while in the immediate vicinity: Sawinda Wielka, Selment Wielki, Woszczele and Łaśmiady. The city has also a municipal beach by the Ełk Lake, with a car park,a large campsite, sports fields, a guarded swimming area and several water equipment rentals.

 The number of lakes and surrounding rivers encourages tourists to active leisure (kayaking, water-skiing, sailing) and water sports. Anglers find the area as the paradise for fishing. The predominant species of fish are: pikeperch, pike, perch, roach, bream, bleak, crucian carp and carp. Masurian forests, on the other hand, allow forest fruit and mushrooms lovers to spend their time actively in the wild. If you are lucky, you may also meet some wildlife: an elk, deer, a wild boar, a hare and a squirrel or various birds.
